Community Involvement

At EHS Support, we strongly believe in the importance of giving back to your community. Each year around the globe EHS Support dedicates 100+ days of service to the communities in which we live and work. As part of this initiative, all of our employees receive dedicated time to volunteer and provide services to an organization of their choosing. These efforts include things like serving as board members, volunteering at charity events, offering home repair and landscape services, cleaning up beaches, donating meals, and even rescuing a platypus (seriously). It’s just our way of expressing our gratitude and doing our best to help those in need.

Charity Challenge

One of the ways we encourage our team members to give back is through our Charity Challenge. Teams of employees are tasked with researching different charitable organizations. They then put together a detailed presentation to support the charity of their choice. The leadership team considers the various pitches and then selects EHS Support’s charity for that year, which is supported by our company and employees through various initiatives. 

American RiversThis is our inaugural year for the Charity Challenge. The organization we selected to partner with American Rivers (https://www.americanrivers.org/). This national charity’s mission is to restore damaged rivers and conserve clean water for people and wildlife. In this collaborative charity project, EHS Support is working to improve aquatic habitats using a multi-pronged approach. Our team members get to choose their own participation level:

  • Fundraise/donate to charity,
  • Organize a river cleanup event, and/or
  • Provide EHS Support expertise and promote corporate partnership.

Our Employees in Action

The following are just a few highlights of the good work our employees are doing in their communities.

  • Each year Gregg Hicks hosts the banquet for Ducks Unlimited, the world’s leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation.
  • Ken Mival is a registered observer for the Platypus Conservancy in Victoria, Australia. He’s also involved with Landcare, which works to reduce weeds, plant native trees, clean up roadsides and the local creeks and rivers.
  • Bethany Evans gets her daughters involved by helping them raise money for the local community center and for turkeys for the needy at Thanksgiving.
  • Simon Hunt works with the Australasian Land and Groundwater Association organizing conferences, industry workshops, and writing guidance on contaminated land. For the Waste Management Institute of New Zealand, he writes guidance on contaminated land. He also sits on a trans-Tasman committee for the Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) professional certification body that oversees the certification of professionals undertaking contaminated land and remediation work in New Zealand and Australia.
  • Dana McCue has been involved with a non-profit organization called Lasagna Love since January 2021. The organization feeds families, spreads kindness, and strengthens local communities by providing free home-cooked dinners to any family in need. They also organize deliveries to local fire responders, schools, senior centers, etc. To date, Dana’s family has cooked and delivered over 34 lasagnas accruing over 136 volunteer hours.
