EHS Support hosted a 10-week internship program with a multidisciplinary team of 8 interns this summer. The team worked collaboratively, both in-person and remotely, to build on the efforts of last summer’s interns. This team focused on the Lower Hackensack River, which was added to the NPL in September 2022, and became the NY/NJ region’s newest EPA Superfund site. The internship program provided the team with key business and technical skills and insights into the potential sources and distribution of suspected constituents of concern, the possible extent of the operable unit, and a closer look at the potentially responsible parties within the Hackensack River watershed. The program and this research are part of EHS Support’s Strategic Investment to provide our clients with real-time analysis and information on this site and other sediment sites in the region.
