Each year the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development schedules provincial health and safety compliance initiatives in specific sectors to protect workers’ rights under both the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act, and enhance employers’ awareness of their responsibilities.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development is focusing across all sectors on high-risk traumatic hazards such as struck-bys, motor vehicles, and mobile equipment hazards. These initiatives include outreach and compliance inspections. During phase 1 of these initiatives (April 1 to June 30, 2022), the ministry focuses on education, outreach, and awareness; on-site inspections take place during phase 2 (May 1 to June 26, 2022).
