EHS Support successfully obtained a New Source Review amendment for the installation of a wood-drying kiln at a wood treating facility in Texas. The project aimed to reduce the need for a higher-emitting steaming process by replacing it with the more controlled kiln-drying operation.
To support the client’s operational goals while ensuring regulatory compliance, we provided air permitting services that included:
- Developing a strategy to streamline the permitting process and minimize the facility’s monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements
- Collaborating with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to ensure the project met all applicable state and federal requirements, including those for Best Available Control Technology.
- Conducting air dispersion modeling to demonstrate that off-site impacts complied with Texas’ Effects Screening Levels for several chemical species.
- Providing strategic support to determine optimal location for the kiln on the property, taking into account facility layout, prevailing wind direction, and off-site receptors, to minimize potential off-site impacts.
