GIS MAPPING AND ANALYSIS
For us, GIS is not just a stand-alone service that we offer, but part of a comprehensive toolkit that we use to solve problems. This approach allows us to draw from a wide range of disciplines and technologies to develop tools and solutions that are task-focused and streamlined. Data can be collected in the field with Fulcrum mobile sampling apps, loaded directly into ArcGIS Online for analysis, and then loaded into our EQuIS database for QC and storage. Data can then be used for desktop GIS or report-ready tables. This interconnected system of applications allows us to be flexible and always use the most appropriate tool for a task. It also allows us to take data from the field to a final product with a maximum efficiency and minimal chance of human error.
DATA MANAGEMENT
EHS Support utilizes EarthSoft’s EQuIS data management system—one of the most widely used in the environmental industry. Centralized data management means that data is stored and managed in a single unit or database, which is accessible from multiple points. This form of data management allows us to implement more efficient forms of organization so data can be stored and retrieved easily, and ensures a single, authoritative data source. Its consistent structure supports process automation and the creation of custom tools that leverage data stored in the database.
DATA VISUALIZATION
Having all relevant data in one place is only helpful if you’re able to make sense of it. EHS support utilizes a variety of platforms to create web-based data visualization tools. These include web-based maps, operations dashboards, compliance dashboards, and many others. These visualization tools can be used to interact with the data, allowing users to look for trends and spatial distribution of data. Having the data readily accessible allows decision-makers to comb through large volumes of information without requiring a background in programming or statistics.
